It seems that we have lost the ability to have disagreement in Heath without attributing nefarious motives to dedicated public servants. My hope for the AT&T blog was a reasoned discussion where people could converse on the tower issue and learn from each other.  Some learning did take place but so did unfair characterizations of people who have dedicated enormous amounts of public service out of love for this community.  For this reason, I have regretfully removed the former blog.

I have been attending Select Board meetings for over two years. I know how hard our Select Board members work outside the Select Board meetings, putting in their time to meet with engineers, electricians, plumbers, FRCOG members, attending several meetings both with town bodies and outside committees. I am grateful to a Board that has a strong desire to do what is best for the Heath community, are dedicated, and willing to sacrifice personal and family time on our behalf. I also know from my experience attending the meetings how much thought and personal angst goes into the decision making to do what’s right and best for the town.  
 
Please be cognizant that there are two sides to every story and do not pre-judge and possibly libel our Board who is prevented, due to litigation, from speaking on their own behalf.  From my personal experience our board members are dedicated, trustworthy, and respectful of all us Heathans. I am grateful they are guiding us.

​As one person wrote, this is complex, and my hope is that through the comments we can come to understand it better.

There are two sides to the issue as I understand them.

• Stop the tower is a winnable suit and will not cost the town any money.
• The tower is inevitable due to the federal government prioritizing cellular communication, therefore we have to get the best settlement we can.

Reasoned comments and opinions are welcomed. 

• Please no personal attacks on commenters who have a differing opinion. Just state why you disagree with the comment.
• Please be factual and try not to judge and be accusatory.  It seems unfair to state that input from all parties has not been taken into consideration by the Select Board, and make judgments on that basis,  while the Board is not allowed to speak on the matter.
