Select Board Meeting Notes, Feb 23, 2021

​Public Comment
Doug Mason spoke regarding a personal donation of a commercial stove for the Community Hall. The Select Board in a later part of the meeting approved the donation. There will be some costs associated with installation which will be covered by available grant money.
 
Betsy Kovacs informed the Board that every Thursday night a reverse 911 call will go out that identifies private links to the FRCOG website where available vaccinations are available in Franklin County.
 
Robyn reminded attendees about the rules for Public Comment period and noted that community members can schedule time for longer discussions than are allowed during Public Comment.

Public Comment
Jesse Weigand thanked the folks who stayed after the meeting last week to speak with him about   second amendment rights.  His issue is that no one should be charged a fee for a right guaranteed by the constitution.
 
6:15 Budget Hearing:
Highway Supervisor, Jeff Johnston, with Select Board and Finance Committee
Small Bridge Project: Town had received a grant of $500,000 for super structure replacement  of bridge on Jacksonville Stage Road. Jeff worked with Robyn and FRCOG, it was a lengthy process.   The Town received 5 bids and VHB in Springfield MA was been chosen. There is still more administrative work to be done. The $500,000 should cover all costs.

Public Comment
Mary Holan expressed concern about the cost of broadband and moving employees to Jacobs Road and then back after the pandemic.
 
FinCom Portion of the Meeting
  • Town departments have turned in budgets. Select Board to schedule meetings with police, fire, highway, and MLP regarding their budgets.  Board would like explanations of significant increases or decreases.
  • FinCom wants to understand increases in technology expenses.
  • Select Board has received emails regarding broadband cost and will seek further information on expenses to date.
  • The Building Facilities Committee may have capital requests.
  • Ned Wolf wants to understand the implications of CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) on the budget.
